Icons meet in the Top 10
Ayed continues his rise as one of the Kingdom’s most beloved Saudi voices, securing the top spot as top Arab artist. Coming in second is Egyptian icon Amr Diab, aka El Hadaba. In third place is Arab music’s Prince of Tarab, Abdul Majeed Abdullah, followed by Iraqi artist and composer Nasrat Al Bader in fourth. Rounding out the top five is Rashed Al-Majed, a defining figure in Gulf music whose timeless voice continues to shape the sound of the region.
The rest of the top 10 is star-studded, featuring legends like Fairuz, Majid Almohandis, Abadi Al Johar, and Mohammed Abdu. Sabah Mahmod also makes the top 10, building on his strong presence in the Top Arabic Songs list in Saudi Arabia this year.
Nostalgia, romance, and all the feels
Nostalgia, romance, and emotional storytelling defined Saudi Arabia’s music taste in 2025. The Kingdom’s top Arabic song of the year, “Aftini” by Iraqi star Sabah Mahmod, showed how strongly a heartfelt melody can resonate. “Alak Alak” by Hassan El Rassam followed closely behind, continuing its emotional pull this year and taking over social media despite being released a few years ago. Sabah Mahmod appears again with “Mit Ani,” a bittersweet yet rhythmic track centered on longing for a lost love. In fourth place is Tayseer Al Safeer’s “Hatha Dam‘ak,” which translates into “Those Are Your Tears,” another Iraqi entry rooted in the genre’s blend of vulnerability and powerful beats. Ayed rounds out the top five with “Lammah,” a song exploring the ache of unrequited love.
Together, these songs reflect Saudi Arabia’s appreciation for nostalgia, emotional depth, the power of sad Khaleeji songs, and the unmistakable bittersweet mood of Iraqi music: romantic, melancholic, yet beautifully rhythmic. Even tracks released in previous years made a mark again in 2025, showing how emotionally rooted songs continue to resonate. Saudi listeners’ global listening this year also leaned toward a mix of slower, emotionally layered tracks and older favorites. Examples include “WILDFLOWER” by Billie Eilish, “Impossible” by James Arthur, “back to friends” by sombr, and “No One Noticed” by The Marías.
